Roulette chat is the latest in the social networking media. It allows the user to chat using webcams. This site is introducing face to face communication along with original form of internet chat. The name says it all… the user is put in a mix with other users, and it is luck of the draw with whom you end up with on the other end. When you are finished chatting or prefer not to chat with a specific person, you press an icon which randomly selects another new “online friend”. Experts have voiced concern about small children and tweens being able to access this chat site, due to the lack of filters or protections in place. This site, I believe, is blending face to face communication with cyberspace. This will have an effect on cyberspace when the written word is not present. Experts believe that visual and auditory sensors, such as seeing one’s emotions and hearing the intonation in their voice (which is obviously not present in the written word), will effect the way we view cyberspace. It gives you the power of presumption or prejudice of the person on the other end.
